Doireann is an experienced physiotherapist who qualified with a first class honours degree from the MSc Physiotherapy programme at Northumbria University in the UK. Prior to this she had completed a BSc in Biomedical Science from National University of Ireland Galway. Doireann has a keen interest in movement patterns and is passionate about a person centred approach to physiotherapy. Doireann has worked in the musculoskeletal physiotherapy discipline within the public and private sector for several years. She has a breadth of experience treating a wide variety of injuries and conditions. Recently she has specialised in neurological physiotherapy with an emphasis on rehabilitation. In Doireann’s experience, Pilates plays a central role in rehabilitation but also has fantastic injury prevention and health benefits. Doireann believes that “pre”habilitation is an area of health care we must prioritise just as much as we do treatment. Doireann feels Pilates is the perfect mechanism to improve and refine our bodies movement patterns and strength. Taking time to be mindful and focus inwards on ourselves is something Doireann believes is vital to our well being. Doireann has moved to New Zealand after a short career break to travel around Asia. She is looking forward to exploring our beautiful country over the coming years.
